About Chatasign
Tony Songest is a caring grandad who set out to solve a problem and make a difference for his granddaughter, Siena. He’s also a former technical author with a curious mind and a thirst for inventing. So when he struggled to find a teaching aid to help him sign and communicate with Siena, he made one.
The Chatasign books started out a bit rough around the edges before Tony got advice from Laura Yard, the specialist NHS Speech and Language Therapist at Siena’s school. Laura works with children who have complex communication needs and feeding difficulties. With her help, Tony developed his idea into a simple, easy-to-use book.
Positive feedback from users and professionals quickly validated the concept and its learning value. Spurred on by this, Tony developed his idea further.
Now you can buy the first books and more titles are being developed. They will be available online in the future, so please bookmark this site and visit regularly; that way, you’ll be among the first to know about new releases.
As well as using Chatasign books for the sheer fun of learning, you can also use them during functional activities or while choosing snacks or drinks. Working through the books together is a great way to share precious quality time with a special child. If you’re like Tony, you’ll probably wonder why they weren’t available before – well now they are!
